Good nutrition is one of the main preventions of free radical damage. Berries, having a high amount of Vitamin C and other vitamins are a great way to take care of our hair from the inside.

I remember as a child I thought prunes were only for old people. It never occurred to me that the prunes were just the dried up plums that I loved so much. Not only is prunes and prune juice high in vitamins, but it is also high in potassium and a good source of iron. 

 

Potassium is a very important electrolyte for the body and we mustn’t forget the hair on our heads is apart of our body. There is a condition called hypokalemia that simply means a deficiency in potassium. Potassium has so many roles and without the right amount, it can leave you with breathing problems, digestive issues, and weakness. One of the roles of potassium is to reduce your sodium levels. Yes, because too much salt leads to hair loss as well. 

 

Just like potassium, without a good amount of iron, our body is unable to produce hemoglobin. This would stop the carrying of oxygen and in turn stop the growth and repairing of cells that stimulate hair growth. So yes, low iron could mean an increase in hair loss. 

 

Remember that all scalp issues cant be only taken care of topically. So time your battle needs to be handled inwardly. It is very important we take care of our hair nutritionally from the inside. The world’s best shampoos, oils, and conditioners will mean nothing if you are destroying yourself from the inside out. Make sure you are taking care of your body because your hair is apart of it.
